Federal states promote the purchase of battery storage systems up to 40%!
Many people think that a solar system with storage is not economical because the storage is still too expensive. But what storage do I actually need and what funding measures are available in my state? The states promote the purchase of battery storage. Read here about the extensive financial support for your PV system with battery storage.
The right storage for the PV system
The capacity of a battery storage unit is given in kWh. A small storage unit has a capacity of around 5 kWh and is suitable for the electricity consumption of a four-person household, which is on average between 3000 and 4000 kWh. A rule of thumb isthat 1 kWh of storage capacity is sufficient for 1000 kWh of electricity consumed. If batteries are larger than necessary, this makes the PV system less economical and worse for the environment, as unnecessary resources are used. In addition, the oversized battery discharges less often, which leads to high charge levels. This shortens the life of the battery.
What funding is available for PV storage in my state?
The federal states have different subsidies for electricity storage. In Berlin there is 300 euros per kWh of battery storage. For a storage unit with 5 kWh, the subsidy would be 1500 euros. For small storage units with up to 5 kWh, the kWh costs an average of 1000 euros. That is 5000 euros for this storage unit (without installation costs). With the subsidy in Berlin, the subsidy would only be 3500 euros. In Schleswig Holstein there is even 400 euros per kWh, which means that the costs are even reduced to 3000 euros. You can find an overview of the current battery subsidy programs in your federal state here.
